The japanese-austrian art unit BCL - Shiho Fukuhara, and Yuki Yoshioka and Georg Tremmel - are transforming the gallery space into an temporal, external lab, a White Salon, that will serve as place for artistic research and a substrate for the documentation of these ideas. BCL will playfully explore existing artistic and societal issues related to the topics of Biology and Water. The metaphor ‘Unstable Media’ will be used to bind these topics together and relate them to our bodies, our minds and the sources of life.

The exhibition will oscillate between the Exo Lab, during which experiments are imagined, planned and carried out, and the White Salon, during which reflective discussions, presentations and journal clubs will be performed. During the Exo Lab, BCL will work on various activities, including the creation of a metaphysical water filtration system and the construction of DNA drawing robots. At the White Salon, BCL will talk amongst each other, with the audience, and with other invited scientists, artists and designers. At the end of the exhibition period, the artistic research findings and discussions will be catalogues, documented expanded and published as a catalogue.
